Absolute Motion Control were approached by the Donmar Warehouse to provide the control package for a revolve for their latest production.

For this production, the revolve was required to operate at exceptionally low speeds, as little as 0.3 degrees per second, placing particular demands on the control system to maintain smooth and consistent motion throughout. To meet this, two ultra quiet servo motors were selected, capable of delivering the precise, repeatable movement needed at those speeds without the noise or irregularity that more conventional solutions can introduce at the lower end of their operating range. Controlled via a Rack[Two] and operated from a Desk[Pad], the compact footprint of the control solution meant that precious backstage space at the Donmar could be kept to a minimum, no small consideration in one of London’s more intimate venues.

The result was a system that gave the creative team exactly what they needed, slow, seamless motion that served the production without drawing attention to the mechanics behind it.
