Absolute Motion Control were tasked with supplying the automation control system for Copenhagen at the Hampstead Theatre, a production that featured two independent revolves as part of a striking stage design, uniquely surrounded by a pool of water.
Four revolve friction drives, paired with two external encoders, provided precise and reliable motion control across both revolves, giving the production team the consistency and accuracy they needed at every performance. The control system was built around two of Absolute Motion Control’s modular Drive[Box]’s and Universal[Controller], a combination that kept the control rack remarkably compact and freed up valuable backstage floor space in what is an intimate venue.
At the operator end, a Desk[Pad] was specifically chosen for its small form factor, giving the operator the freedom to be positioned exactly where the production required without being tied to a large and cumbersome console. It is the kind of considered, practical solution that makes a real difference when space and flexibility are at a premium.
