Sinatra The Musical

Overview:

Absolute Motion Control provided a comprehensive motion control system for Sinatra at the Aldwych Theatre. The setup drew on our full range of rental products, including Rack[Four], Drive[Box], Drive[Box]40, Tracking[Box], RoRo winches, Whirly Reelers, floor tracks and chain driven sliders, along with bespoke wireless control of a rotating scenic element.

Under the stage, Absolute integrated five axes to move the floor tracks and to carry the entire orchestra upstage and downstage.

On stage, a bespoke wireless control interface allowed a scenic bar to rotate while being tracked on and off stage via a floor track.

In the wings, four Low Voltage MCC’s provided compact control of the tracking Chain Beam sliders, which masked the wing space.

Above the stage, eight Whirly Reeler winches raised and lowered practical lights in and out of view, while three cross stage sliding axes ran on Triple E Chain Beam. Three RoRo winches, mounted in their counterweight assist configuration, allowed the house bars to be automated to fly scenic pieces in and out. A 750kg video wall was also flown using our Drive[Box]40 rackmount drive.

Finally, four video tracking encoders provided positional data so the video could be mapped to manually flown scenic pieces.

All controlled from a Desk[Five] console for precise, accurate and repeatable movement 8 shows a week.
